I've just got round to watching Road Trip. I thought it was quite good, but not one of the best films I have watched recently. It's not a new one, but we don't get to watch every film that comes out around the time most people will watch it. There are a few that I want to watch currently on at the cinema such as Tears Of The Sun, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Bad Boys 2 & Kill Bill as well as a list of older films to make my way through. Recently I've seen Bad Boys, Confidence, Agent Cody Banks, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Phone Booth, Catch Me If You Can, Anger Management, The Matrix Reloaded and American Wedding.
Of course there is always going to be something new to watch that I've not yet seen, so it'll be an ongoing and never complete project!
The question is, what to watch next?
Man, that's one of the most populist listings of movies I've ever seen! Agent Cody Banks? I love Malcolm in the Middle but that doesn't mean everything featuring a member of the cast should be viewed. Agent Cody Banks? Seriously?
If you want something different try City Of God. It has a similar thematic construction as Goodfellas, an awesome plot, superb soundtrack and visuals and is probably the best film I've seen in years (and I watch a LOT of films). Yeah it's got subtitles but us internet types can all read, right? Unless you speak Portugese?
Also Shiri. I was never freaked out about the whole North Korea thing until I saw Shiri. John Woo style gun fights, assassins, conspiracy theories. It's great. It does have subtitles again though.
Or Ballistics with Lucy Liu (reason alone to watch it I would have thought) and Antonio Banderas fighting each other, lots of cops and Ray "I was Darth Maul I was" Park in a mix of martial arts, car chases, gun fights and lots and lots of really big explosions. Lucy Liu is a really good martial artist, which I never knew. Not subtitled, American. Almost English but not quite.
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind - Very funny "is it or isn't it true" story about the guy who created the Gong Show who moonlighted as a CIA wet-boy (yes I like films about assassins, well spotted). Has some truly funny moments as well as some nasty ones. Got Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Drew Barrymore and a few others in it and watch out for the very funny "Blink and you'll miss it" appearance of Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.
Donnie Darko - no way I could even begin to explain this. Just watch it for the awesome tour de force that is Jake Gyllenhall. Amazing.
Jackass The Movie - Needs no explanations. Best watched high/ drunk as you will cackle inanely.
The Ring 2003 - Mummy, where are my clean underpants?!!! Great adaptation, the original is even better but (altogether now) it has subtitles.
Watch 'em and let us know what you think.
Audi.
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your suggestions! Actually, I knew there were some I had missed off the list - I've seen Jackass and have ones such as The Ring to watch.
I only watched Agent Cody Banks because it was there, not something I'd go to the cinema to see (or pay to see).
I like all kinds of films, especially sci-fi, action and martial arts. Some of the ones you've listed like Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, Donni Darko etc are ones I want to watch but since I don't make a list I tend to forget about them and only remember when I see them and at that point usually try to watch them.
Films with good twists and story lines are obviously better than ones without.. Although I'd say it's sometimes hard to come up with a story that is going to be a killer as a film.
The Matrix was probably the last one that had that sort of effect and now with the 2 new films, we'll see how it goes. There have been others but since I like sci-fi, comedy, action, drama etc I'm going to be biased towards other types. Not that I won't watch them, but you generally stick with what you like.
I think I'll have to have a look through Amazon/Play etc and start watching some from the past which are considered as must see by the critics that I've not got round to seeing yet. The kinds of films that get the response "You've not seen X? No way"
Of late films I have seen including ones I've not listed as I can't think of them right now, have not really been ones I'd say are wicked. Liked, but nothing special.
I'm probably going to watch Tears Of The Sun & or Bad Boys 2 tonight.
I'll watch the ones you suggest and let you know!
Cheers :)

Check out the camera work in BB2, especially the gunfight which is filmed in one continous shot. Amazing. Not the greatest film ever made though, but good fun.
I have watched Matrix: Reloaded so many times I am now down to just watching the fight scenes when I get bored! Cult movies are a particular favourite of mine (I do some other stuff apart from watch movies, some of it is even quite healthy, but all my friends call me Film Boy). Try the following:
Angel Heart (the only good film with Mickey Rourke in it)
Blade Runner (you've probably seen it)
Boondock Saints (Billy Connolly and porn legend Ron Jeremy in cameo roles in the same film? Great)
I could go on but it'll probably take you about a year to get through what I've already mentioned, those are just three of my favourites.
Nice blog by the way. Am getting one underway for general ranting (another favourite past time of mine according to my recently ex-girlfriend) and media related stuff. Of course, BT have ruined it with their blatant lack of interest in supplying Broadband to rural areas, but I'm moving soon so it won't be a problem.
See ya.

MGM Promises that Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London Could be the most Anti-Semitic Movie in History!
Spurred by the success of Mel Gibson's recent movie "The Passion of Christ" studios have begun to target the massive audience who apparently desire to see movies which are accused of being anti-semitic. Through six days in theatres Mel Gibson's "Passion of Christ" has grossed over $125 million. MGM has jumped on the band wagon first and completely re-edited and over-dubbed "Cody Banks II: Destination London".
"We have recut our movie to see just how anti-semitic we can get....allegedly." MGM President Larry Gleason stated, "The audience is there and we just have to give them what they want." In the original script, teen spy Cody Banks, was sent by the CIA to London to recover a stolen mind-control device. In the new ending, he goes to Jerusalem to take on the evil Knesset who are secretly controlling the United States government and subjugating innocent Palestinians to death and torture. The studio has also redubbed the movie so that Frankie Muniz's character has a codename of Adolph. And, in a final surprise twist, Agent Banks discovers that Israeli spies were actually the cause of September 11th. "Is it anti-semetic?" Gleason asked, "I think that's an answer only an audience of 40 million ticket buyers could decide."
